Plans for May

This April was about what I expected after the high point that was March. The first week was consumed with preparations for my excursion to TFF, the second week with the trip itself, and the last couple trying to reorganize myself. May is going to be one heck of a comeback–at least if I haveContinue reading “Plans for May”

Harry’s Hay Days

Happy Monday to everyone! Hope your week is off to a good start. Just wanted to remind everyone that I will be at Harry’s Hay Days on Main St. in Grandview, MO from 10A.M. to 4P.M. on Saturday, May 3rd. Look for the Bluedrake Books banner. As usual, I’ll be offering some special deals toContinue reading “Harry’s Hay Days”

When Inspiration Strikes

We all know the feeling. We could be going about our daily lives, doing nothing out of the ordinary when suddenly it happens. What triggers it could be any number of things: something we hear on the radio, a dream, or simply the workings of our subconscious mind. On the other hand, going over the same material again and again canContinue reading “The Process of Self-Editing (Updated!)”

Plans for April

March turned out to be a very productive month, both personally and professionally. The latter included progress on a couple of projects (if not as much as I would have liked), reaching 50 outstanding submissions (which I’ve not managed in years!), and of course, attending the local Luck & Laughter vending event right here inContinue reading “Plans for April”

The Importance of Feedback

I have mentioned in several previous posts how important it is to get others to look at your work before submitting or publishing. Today, I’d just like to underline that fact, and discuss once more why it is so critical to achieve a superior product.

Luck & Laughter?

This past Saturday (March 15th), I attended the first Luck & Laughter shopping event at the Sonesta Select Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri on behalf of Bluedrake Books. And to put it plainly…it was a bit of a dud. Why and how this happened I shall try to dissect below.

The Importance of Lists

To paraphrase an old Go-Gos song, “I am a boy of a hundred lists.” I’ve got them for just about everything, whether written on a notepad or just filed away in my head. Lists can be your best friend or your worst enemy, depending on how and whether you organize them, but there’s no questionContinue reading “The Importance of Lists”
