Plans for May

April was an extremely busy month. Between my last-minute acceptance as a vendor at a local craft show (less than two weeks after returning from Dallas) to fantastic progress on several projects, I would say it was overall a great success. And perhaps the biggest achievement of all? Yes, I finally did it: after 5 years, the rough draft of Sauragia: The Saltrak’s Revenge is now complete!

May could be interesting, though I don’t expect it to be as spectacular for a number of reasons. That said, I will proceed to type up my new Sauragia manuscript, do some reviewing work on K. O. A. (Book V is scheduled for release this December, by the way), and who knows what else? After the chaos of April, I’m looking forward to a more relaxed May, perhaps with some nice warm weather for a change.

Another Small-town Affair

Last weekend, I appeared at Belton, Missouri’s annual Spring Craft Show at the High Blue Wellness Center. Not exactly the kind of place one would expect to go searching for books, but there was a last-minute opening, so I decided to take the chance.

TFF 2026: Third Time’s the Charm?

A couple weekends ago, I was once again a vendor for two days in the Artist Alley of Texas Furry Fiesta. Like last year, I was once again selected for Friday and Sunday dealing, but the results, as so often in this business, were quite different…

Plans for April

March was another full month of dealing with various appointments and obligations. So full, in fact, that my trip to Dallas for attending TFF 2026 seemed to come up on me rather suddenly! But more about that in another post.

April will be a fairly quiet month by comparison. With but a single-day appearance at the local Spring Craft Show in Belton, MO on the 11th, I should be able to focus more on production and less on preparing for this trip or that obligation. Specifically, I would like to continue some editing and revising of the Knights of Aralia series now that my rewrite of Book V is complete. I need to resume a rewrite of another project that I’ve had on hiatus for a couple of months now as well. And of course, getting to any translation work would be an added bonus.

Ten Ways to Enhance Productivity

We’d all like to be more productive if given the chance. Sometimes we don’t get much time to spend doing the thing we love most, so we’ve got to really make what time we do have count. Here, I’m going to present a few ways to make those spare minutes count even more. These are on no particular order, though I do think the first three are probably the most important.

Minimizing Distractions

Distractions are everywhere. There are the obvious ones like television, video games, social networks, and going out on the town for this or that. And then there are the ones that seem less obvious–the things that might make us feel like we’re doing something useful, but which are really just keeping us from doing other, more important things. As authors, our biggest question is how to navigate life’s many distractions so that we can get down to business and do the thing we need and desire to do most: write.

Video Games–Distraction or Inspiration?

There’s no denying that video games have had an impact on many authors in today’s world. How big an impact varies, of course, but it’s safe to say that most writers below the age of fifty have had some level of interaction with games at some point or other. I myself am as guilty as any. But to what extent is this gaming experience helpful to writers, and at what point does it become more harmful to our output?

What Established Authors Do Differently Once Traction Hits

Hello again! This week we have a very interesting guest post by Adulting Digest‘s Chris Haymon about what to do once you’ve started taking off as a writer. I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did, and I will have a new post of my own out next week. Thanks!
