Plans for January

Greetings, all! I hope this New Year’s Day finds you well, and ready to take on another 365 days of action and adventure! I am certainly excited, for not only does this day mark another year of possibilities, but October will mark my 5-year anniversary as a published author! Hard to believe it’s been so long!

December was a little bit of a disappointment, all told. While I did have a successful appearance at a Christmas Bazaar early in the month, I also got hung up on a project that should have taken no more than a week to finish. Instead, it took until Christmas Day! Numerous other minor tasks were accomplished regarding the business side of being an author etc., but for actual writing and editing, I have significantly less to show.

Nevertheless, this year is going to start off at a much more leisurely pace. With so many petty side tasks complete, I now have an almost clean slate with which to start anew with 2025, and I have two particular projects in mind. First is the overhaul of a manuscript I’ve had in mind for almost three years now, and which I have been looking forward to immensely. The second will be something more experimental in nature. I am going to attempt to write an epic poem! That’s right, I, who have never fancied myself a particularly great poet, am going to attempt to create a grand, long-form poem, which will hopefully be released a year and a half from hence to mark a very special occasion. In addition, I would like to begin doing a little historical research for a couple of side projects, as well as some more translating. But the aforementioned manuscripts will be my primary focus. Finally, at the end of the month (Jan. 30th-Feb. 2nd, to be precise), I will be attending my first convention of the year behind the Bluedrake Books banner: Anthro Expo in Norman, OK. Hope to see some of you there!

BookTrib Review: ‘Journey to the Red Mountain’!

Good morning! Yesterday, BookTrib released a review of Sauragia: Journey to the Red Mountain. It’s a fun little read, so be sure to go take a look when you get a chance.

Thanks for reading, and I hope you all have a great holiday season!

Vending in 2024: A Year in Review

What a year it has been! 2024 has seen significant progress in my growth as an author, but also as a promoter of my work. Perhaps the most significant marker of this was just how many events I attended with a vendor booth of my very own around the country! Now, I have reviewed every one of these events individually in detail already. So, here I will simply give a brief summary of each in order of occurrence, followed by a chart on which I calculate which events were the best (and worst) for me as a bookseller using a 1-10 scale (1 being best; 10 worst). Hopefully this will be of help to those of you who may be considering hitting the live circuit to promote your work to decide which kinds of venues could be most promising for book sales.Continue reading “Vending in 2024: A Year in Review”

Holiday Vibes at a Christmas Bazaar

This past weekend, I attended my last live appearance of the year at St. John LaLande’s annual Christmas Bazaar in Blue Springs, Missouri. It took place in the school gymnasium, and was definitely one of the cozier events I’ve been to this year. But was it worthwhile?Continue reading “Holiday Vibes at a Christmas Bazaar”

!!! Book Release: ‘Knights of Aralia Book III’ !!!

This morning I am thrilled to announce the official release of the next book in my latest series: Knights of Aralia Book III: The Return of Hope! For those of you who have pre-ordered already, my sincerest thanks, and I truly hope you enjoy the continuation of this epic series as much as I enjoyed writing it. For those who have not but want to know more, go take a look at its page here.

Plans for December

November was one pretty amazing month for me from start to finish! Not only did I have a lovely time at the Indoor Holiday Market in Leavenworth, but my next Knights of Aralia book went on pre-order, I signed up for one more live event in December, and made great strides in other future projects.

Here at the start of December, I am in a pretty good position to wrap up a most eventful year in very neat fashion. There’s still a lot to be done, beginning with the launch of Knights of Aralia Book III on the 6th, followed by my final live appearance of the year at the Christmas Bazaar in Blue Springs, MO on the 7th and 8th (come see me if you can!). Some more progress on certain drafts (including finishing up Knights of Aralia Book IIII and Sauragia 3) are in the works as well, and the cherry on top would be if I could finally finish up a long-outstanding translation project. Either way, I am determined to clear the deck this December, and thereby allow myself to start with a clean slate in 2025!
