2025: A Year in Review

Greetings, and welcome to my final post of 2025! In this I will again be taking a look at my vending experiences throughout the year (I made no less than 12 this time!), but also just a general look at how things have come along and where they might be headed.

First Foray of the Year: Anthro Expo 2025

Hello again, everyone, and welcome to my first real post of 2025! Today I’ll be reviewing yet another experience as a vendor, this time at Norman, Oklahoma’s own furry convention: Anthro Expo.

Holiday Vibes at a Christmas Bazaar

This past weekend, I attended my last live appearance of the year at St. John LaLande’s annual Christmas Bazaar in Blue Springs, Missouri. It took place in the school gymnasium, and was definitely one of the cozier events I’ve been to this year. But was it worthwhile?

Best Reads of the Year List!

Howdy all! It’s that time again. Every year, Shepherd.com asks authors (and readers) to share their 3 favorite reads of the year on their site, along with a brief explanation of what made each book so great. Published authors also have the option to submit one book of their own to feature alongside each list,Continue reading “Best Reads of the Year List!”

Vending Back-to-Back Weekends Part 2: TTFC

Last week I reviewed my experiences as a vendor in the Artist Alley at DenFur 2024, so take a look at that post first if you haven’t already. This week, I’ll be talking about my vending experience in the Artist Alley at Tails & Tornadoes Fur Con 2024, which took place in Tulsa, OK overContinue reading “Vending Back-to-Back Weekends Part 2: TTFC”

Vending Back-to-Back Weekends Part 1: DenFur

This August had got a little taste of that, having vended at two conventions on two consecutive weekends: DenFur (Denver, CO, August 23rd-25th) and Tails & Tornadoes FurContinue reading “Vending Back-to-Back Weekends Part 1: DenFur”

Handling Criticism

In the past, I’ve dealt with the subject of handling rejection from publishers. But how do you handle simple criticism of your work? What do you do if you get comments or reviews bashing your work or even you as the author? In this post, I’ll attempt to address this sometimes delicate issue.

Vending at a Street Fair

This weekend, I attempted my first ever street fair, and I am happy to say it was a surprising success! I confess, I underestimated the literary interest of the audience to which I was selling, which made what was essentially a single-day event (the three hours Friday evening were largely rained out) somewhat profitable. But,Continue reading “Vending at a Street Fair”

Marketing Matters: Merchandising

Some time ago, I made a post about promotional materials, and how they could help sell your book. But what if there are other ways you could sell your book–or even other products you could sell that somehow relate back to your work in some other way? I believe there are several interesting possibilities outContinue reading “Marketing Matters: Merchandising”

TFF 2024: A Retrospective

It is one week since I returned from Texas Furry Fiesta, an anthro animal-themed convention hosted annually in Dallas by Creature Arts, which was my second ever live appearance as an author/bookseller. Having had time to reflect on this whirlwind expedition, I have come to a few conclusions, which I will share in this week’sContinue reading “TFF 2024: A Retrospective”
