Plans for March

February has been a very interesting month indeed, and fairly productive as well. I finally began recording my first audiobook, worked a bit on a rough draft, reviewed a couple of manuscripts, and made a few tweaks here and there to older works. Finally, and perhaps most exciting of all, I will officially be vendingContinue reading “Plans for March”

Redacted: When Editors Go Too Far

I recently had an article published in a magazine. Wonderful news, of course. It is always nice to know that others deem your work worthy of publication. However, on seeing the article in question, I was rather disappointed to find that some of my main arguments (this was an opinion piece) appeared to have vanished!Continue reading “Redacted: When Editors Go Too Far”

Plans for February

January started out rough, but by the end things cleared up a bit, and I was able to accomplish most of my goals. Minor progress was made on a rough draft, a couple loose ends from 2021 were tied up, and some major changes to another project were laid out. This February, I will beContinue reading “Plans for February”

Happy New Year!

Greetings all, and happy new year! May 2022 prove tenfold better than 2021…or at least no worse. I don’t know about you all, but December was pretty awful for me. Between dealing with an annoying bug of some sort for the last couple weeks and just general chaos created by the holidays, I was ableContinue reading “Happy New Year!”

Plans for December

November was, as expected, a mild month. I partly revised a novella for next year, continued my current rough draft, and completed yet another rough drawing. This month I hope to wrap up this year’s projects. I will make one final drawing, review an anthology I started last year (as well as a couple booksContinue reading “Plans for December”

25 Songs That Would Make Great Story Titles

Here’s one just for fun. I’ve always been something of an audiophile (as those who have read my “25 Memorable Quotations” post have probably guessed), and I can’t tell you how many times a great line from a song, or even the song title itself, has come in handy when coming up with titles forContinue reading “25 Songs That Would Make Great Story Titles”

Plans for November

October was a phenomenal month. I made progress on my rough draft, reviewed another book thoroughly for next spring, created yet another drawing for next winter’s book, partly revamped an old short story/novella for possible publication this winter or next spring, and worked on my ongoing linguistic project besides. In addition, I am pleased toContinue reading “Plans for November”

Plans for October

September was a bustling month indeed! While not all was accomplished that I had hoped, it was nevertheless a good one. In it I managed to make improvements to an old story, continue work on my Woodland Tales translation, plan a couple of short articles/essays, rough out another drawing for next year, and complete myContinue reading “Plans for October”

Plans for September

August was another partially successful month. I made progress on a couple of projects, went back to correct some serious issues in a previously published work, and created yet another drawing for a future work. I also did some more research for my nonfiction project. September, I am hoping, will be a much more fulfillingContinue reading “Plans for September”

Kinds of Conflict

At the core of any good story lies conflict. Having likeable, believable characters is good too, but unless there’s something driving them to act, they’re not much more use than a hammer without nails.
